Meet our Farmers

Family is what we are all about. Being the 5th generation to own and operate this farm comes with all kinds of opportunities as well as challanges, but the top priority is raising the 6th generation of children in a lifestyle that can be passed on to their children. Teaching them to be stewards of the land and caretakers of the animals is something that is instilled from a young age.

The 4th generation, Ralph and Lola Sayer, raised 5 children on the farm; Shannon, Kristi, Joseph, Eric & Jennifer.

In 2004 and 2005 Joe & Jennifer returned after college to help manage the dairy farm and add a trucking business. They transitioned the farm to an organic dairy farm and also raised freezer beef to help provide supplemental income.

Jennifer moved to another career on a large beef farm and eventually hauled cattle for almost 10 years all over the East Coast and settling down in PA. Shannon went on to become an RN and pursue a career in the medical field.

After the passing of Ralph from a long battle with cancer in 2012, Joe decided to also move on to pursue a different career focused more on mechanics & equipment. At that time, Kristi and Eric returned to the farm and partnered with Lola to establish the current LLC and farm business.

Lola has always been the backbone of this farm. She and her late husband faced many hardships to keep the dairy farm running over the years, but were never afraid to put their minds to work to keep the pumps on, the cows milked and the kids raised right.

Ralph hauled beef and cull cows for local farms over the years as well as ran equipment and kept the marketing of milk and beef as diverse as he could.

Lola did much of the milking and tending the cows, raising the kids and managing the finances. When it was all said and done, they made a great team even thru the volatility of ever changing markets.

Today Lola is semi-retired and helps care for the grandkids, do some day to day chores, and mostly keep us all in line as the ultimate caregiver on the operation of all the kids, cows and grandkids!

Our Hard Work & Experience Makes The Difference

Eric has a background in welding and equipment operating. His skills go back to when he was young and learned how to drive machinery on the farm and in the hay fields.

Eric also has had his CDL for 20 years and has always maintained a career off the farm. He has driven dump truck, over the road equipment hauling and most recently, hauling logs for a local land management company.

Along with his off farm job, Eric is in charge of feed making and taking care of the equipment on the farm. In the summer he makes decisions about when to make feed and spread manure. He also has to fix things when they break, as they sometimes do. Eric is a jack of all trades and willing to do whatever is needed when its go time!

Eric and his wife Shay have 2 boys that are both active on the farm as well as in sports and other activities.

Kristi has has a 20 year background in the beef industry. After college at the University of Nebraska she returned to the northeast and was hired to manage a large cattle feeding operation in Northern Maine.

In 2013 she transitioned to consulting for that same company, while being based back at the home farm in Canton. This allowed her to gain much experience with other operations, but also be around and help transition and manage parts of the day to day decision making of the family dairy farm and the small freezer beef business.

Kristi and her husband Adam have 3 children on the farm. Adam also has a trucking business that keeps him busy, but jumps in to help whenever he needs to on the farm.

Kristi is responsible for day to day feeding of cattle, making balanced diets for the cattle, cattle health and marketing of freezer beef, eggs and feed.
